We are looking for a native French speaker for QA position at our client's location in downtown Seattle.
Position: Linguist/Translator
Language: French
Position Type: Part-time contractor @ ~ 10 hrs/wk Initial training may require more hours
Reports to: Localization Manager
Primary Function:
The linguist is responsible for translating and editing translations for marketing collateral, web platform text and search terms. The linguist participates in terminology work, marketing content reviews, and web platform linguistic quality assurance. In addition, the linguist improves the user search experience on our client's side.
This is a part-time (approximately 10hrs/week) position.
Contacts:
The Linguist reports to the Localization Manager and interacts with Localization Project Managers and other linguists working on the same tasks for other languages.
Qualifications, Skills, Education and Experience:
Previous localization QA or translation experience.
Native French speaker.
Top-notch French writing skills, extensive vocabulary, and proven ability to write creatively.
Clear understanding of the translators role in localization workflows, quality assurance, and terminology management.
Proven, strong analytical skills.
Experienced in learning new tools and complex technical contexts.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred
Knowledge of taxonomies, controlled vocabulary, metadata, and search engine query processing.
Strong visual literacy skills (above average ability to associate precise terms with image content).
Experience with Translation Memory tools, like SDL, Trados, etc.
2+ years experience in translating marketing collateral and web UIs for corporate clients.
The project will require a linguist to work from the office (5-6 hours, downtown Seattle) one day per week and the rest from home. Please send your resume to hgolota@globalme.net if interested.
